I graduated high school as Valedictorian. Everyone, including myself, had such high hopes for me. Unfortunately, once I started college, I found I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do when I “grew up”. I decided I wouldn’t waste my money on classes I was sure I’d use, so I dropped out and enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Sonar Technician. After the Navy, I worked in automotive for several years, starting out on the factory floor. Eventually, I worked my way into the finance department as the payroll coordinator. Due to the state of the economy, I lost my job. However, I quickly found another doing mineral right research for a natural gas company. I worked there for a couple of years, and once again, I lost my job due to the economy. It was then my husband and I decided I would stay home. I’ve been a stay-at-home mommy and wife ever since.
Quickly, tell us about your upcoming releases?
My third and final book in the Macyn McIntyre Series, Macyn’s Decision, is set to be released in November of this year. After having to endure torture caused by the hands of her nemesis, Frederick Marshall, Macyn is finally forced to make the ultimate decision. Does she die in order to save the ones she loves?
Do you have any specific inspiring incident that turned you out as an author?
When I lost my last job, I found I had a lot of time on my hands. I quickly became bored and started reading fiction blogs. After several months, I thought I can do this! I started my first blog and have been writing since.
Who designed your cover art? How did you choose the image?
I actually do my own cover art. My first two books, Macyn’s Letter and Macyn’s Awakening, were designed from scratch. Recently, I decided to change the covers because I was never totally satisfied with the originals. Usually when I’m writing, a particular scene will stick with me, and that’s my inspiration comes from.
Do you outline your work before you write?
No. I tried outlining once, but my characters didn’t like that. They LOVE writing their own story. I feel restricted with outlines. The freedom from not working with an outline feels great!
How do you like spending your leisure hours?
Leisure time? What’s that? Joking! The majority of my time is spent with my husband and children. I love to read, and average reading a book or two per week.
Which genre is far more appealing to you as a reader?
I can’t say I have a favorite genre. I write romance/mystery, and I suppose I’m drawn to that over all other genres, but I read everything!
What inspires you to write? Is there any level of similarity with the events or characters in your book and in reality?
I love reading, and I usually get tons of ideas to write about while reading. I don’t think there are really in similarities in my works and reality. I suppose I may pick up characteristic traits from people in real life to use in my books, but ultimately, everything is pure imagination.
Which is your current read?
I’m currently not reading anything considering I’m trying to finish my book, but the last book I read was Laugh or Death by Camilla Chafer. Love those books!
What, in your opinion is the toughest part while carving your book?
Staying focused! When I sit down in front of my computer, I find myself constantly getting online to check out various social media. Before I know it, several hours have passed, and I’ve written nothing. Now, I like to use pen and paper and sit outside somewhere. I find I focus much better writing in this manner.
Share a word of advice with our readers and authors, if any?
My advice to readers would be: leave constructive reviews for the books you read. Authors count on these reviews. Your review can be positive or negative, but please ensure it’s constructive.
My advice to writers would be: keep writing and do it for yourself. Don’t worry about what others think. As long as you are writing for you, and it makes you happy, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.
Share one of your favorites from your music band collection, if any?
I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Definitely my favorite group, but I find I listen to 80’s music more often than anything else. It’s a close 2nd.
If you’re a foodie, tell us about your favorite dish?
Can’t say I’m a foodie, but I love vegetables – especially asparagus!
List any giveaways or surprises in mere future?
I usually do an autographed paperback edition at each release. I haven’t really thought that far ahead, yet, BUT I do have a contest going on for free coupon codes for electronic copies of my books after the release of Macyn’s Decision. I’m trying to reach 300 likes on my Facebook page. When I do hit the target, I’ll randomly select a winner for the free set of digital books.
Where can we find your books?
